In August of 2010 Johnson & Johnson has recalled approximately 93,000 DePuy ASR™ hip replacement joints.
DePuy has known for a number of years that these hips had a very high failure rate, but has just recently made this information public and quit selling the ASR™ hip replacement joints.
DePuy ASR™ hip joints were first used around 2005. After a few years they realized that there were problems with the hip joints and people quit using them, but some were sold through 2010.
